Outrageous Quote of the Week - Week of January 15th

Reported by Janie - January 22, 2007 -

Gretchen Carlson won her first "Outrageous Quote" last week with 59% of the vote for her attempt at McCarthyism, referring to Senator Ted Kennedy (D - MA) as a "hostile enemy":

"Dan, you talk about a hostile enemy obviously being Iraq, but hostile enemies right here on the home front."

For this week's selection, take a look below the jump!

Option A: "The situation that Hearst found herself in was exciting. She had a boring life, she was a child of privilege, all of a sudden she's in with a bunch of charismatic thugs, and she enjoyed it. The situation here, for this kid, looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his 'old' parents. He didn't have to go to school, he could run around and do whatever he wanted...And I think, when it all comes down, what's gonna happen is, there was an element here that this kid liked about his circumstances". - Dr. Bill O'Reilly debunks "Stockholm syndrome" and reveals why kidnap victim Shawn Hornbeck didn't run away, "O'Reilly Factor", 1/15/07

Option B: "A bunch of Irish guys are not going to get on the plane now and blow themselves up or put themselves into buildings...I mean, you don't watch '24'?" On Fox TV? They're out there. They're out there. There are cells out there." - Bo Dietl, a former NYC police detective appearing in a segment on "Your World" about Northwest Airlines apologizing to a group of 40 Muslims for barring them from a plane in Germany on their return trip to Detroit, 1/17/07

Option C: “Basically, um, it is like California with Baghdad as LA with Hispanics, white and blacks... You have the Crips and the Bloods in Baghdad. That’s where all the fighting is." - Ann Coulter comparing Iraq to Los Angeles, "Hannity & Colmes", 1/17/07

Option D: "But smoking cigarettes is a nothing burger compared to what Hillary's people are doing to Obama, according to Insight magazine, which is a publication of The Washington Times. Insight says its sources report that the Clinton Democrats are doing background checks on Obama and are going to attach the word madrassa to him, as in: "Obama attended a madrassa as a child." - John Gibson, "The Big Story", 1/19/07

Option E: “It’s just unbelievable. … It’s so irresponsible that they can’t be quiet for six or nine months,” adding, “You really wonder, do they want it to work or not? I really wonder that.” - Bill Kristol referring to critics of the Bush/McCain surge as "irresponsible", "Fox News Sunday", 1/21/07
