No Egg on Fox and Friends Face Over BCS Boner

Reported by Judy - January 9, 2007 -

The co-hosts of "Fox and Friends" should have had egg all over all of their faces Tuesday (January 9, 2007) for misleading viewers about who was behind a decision by the House to take the day off Monday, but apologizing for mistakes, or even admitting them, is not something that happens on Fox News. With video.

Co-hosts Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, and Brian Kilmeade made hay in their Monday show at the expense of Democrats, yucking it up repeatedly during the two-hour show over the fact that Democrats had broken their pledge to work five days a week by taking the day off Monday so members could attend the BCS title game between Ohio State and Florida.

But Tuesday, after making a couple more references to the day off, Doocy finally got around to admitting that Monday's story had been, well, incomplete.

"A number of people were blaming Democrats for doing that," Doocy said, not mentioning that chief among that "number of people" were the three dopes sitting on the set right at that moment.

It seems, admitted Carlson, that House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio had requested that the House not be in session so that he could attend the game. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland, had granted the Republican leader's request in a spirit of bipartisanship.

Did Fox News apologize to Democrats for misleading the public about what was really going on? Did management promise that it would expects its journalists to do a better job of checking facts before airing a story instead of jumping to the conclusion that Democrats had wanted the day off?

Are you kidding? This is Fox News, fair and balanced as always.
