Kilmeade: OK to Threaten to Shoot Man in Traffic Stop

Reported by Judy - January 9, 2007 -

Brian Kilmeade, who admitted Tuesday that he's "no genius," endorsed the idea of police threatening to shoot drivers during routine traffic stops. "To me, that's perfect," he said. With video.

Kilmeade, one of the co-hosts of "Fox and Friends," was discussing a story Tuesday (January 9, 2007) dealing with a Rhode Island highway patrol officer who stopped a van which had not used a turn signal when changing lanes.

The officer left briefly and told the driver that he would shoot him if anyone in the van left. When he returned, everyone was still there.

"To me, that works perfect," said Kilmeade.

Kilmeade apparently thinks he'll never be in the same situation, and he probably won't. That's because the van's passengers were mostly brown-skinned and suspected of being illegal immigrants. The American Civil Liberties Union is taking up the case, alleging racial profiling.

The segment was one of several immigrant-bashing episodes on Fox and Friends. Kilmeade got progressively worse with each segment, but at least White House correspondent Greg Kelly had the decency to call the tactic "harsh."
