FOX News Shores Up Trailing GOP Candidate in Michigan Senatorial Race. Misleads Viewers.

Reported by Marie Therese - October 25, 2006 -

As of this morning, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) announced that a respected poll (View image) shows incumbent Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow leading her Republican opponent Mike Bouchard by 18 points. Similarly, three other polls show Stabenow ahead by 11 to 16%. However, if you watched FOX & Friends this morning, you would have heard host Steve Doocy say this: "In Michigan Republican Mike Bouchard is closing in on his opponent, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, and is putting Democrats on the defensive."

Doocy introduced Mike Bouchard, then made the announcement that, although Stabenow had been invited, "she's too busy this week" to appear. Bouchard added "She's been too busy to debate, too, so welcome to my world."

Here are some other comments made by the F&F hosts:

DOOCY: "Why do you think you're pickin' up steam in Michigan?"

KIRAN CHETRY: "So there seems to be an anti-incumbent feeling in Michigan especially with the enormous job losses there."

DOOCY: "You know, Mike, there are so many pundits out there who are saying 'Oh you know the Democrats are this close to winning control of the Senate and the House as well', yet they don't really talk about races like yours where you are practically right there on her heels. She still leads you in the polls. Do you expect to win two weeks from yesterday?"

Bouchard answered "I absolutely do. I've been expecting to win since the beginning. The only challenge is because of all these races around the country tightening up, money's tightened up a bit, so I'm being outspent 4 to 1 but we're still closing. So, anybody that feels they want to share a little ..." Bouchard went on to claim that his opponent ignores the fact "that 49 other states are doing extremely well."

What a piece of partisan electioneering this whole segment was!

FOX News is losing it, big-time.
