John Gibson Claims Democrats "nailed" Mark Foley

Reported by Deborah - October 6, 2006 -

John Gibson opened a discussion with Lauren Schwartz, Democratic Strategist, congratulating Democrats for nailing Mark Foley and then tried to implicate George Soros just like Cavuto did in the previous hour today on FNC. 10/6/06

Schwartz quickly responded to Gibson comment that Democrats "nailed" Foley saying that they had nothing to do with it because it was a former Republican Aide that turned in the e-mails. Gibson insisted that a "liberal leaning" group supported by George Soros were responsible for the e-mails surfacing.

Then Gibson tried to divert attention from the ugliness of Foley's behavior by making it a political strategy contest that was won by the the Democrats. Chuckling he flashed a quote from Pelosi saying she was going to " drain the Republican swamp" acting as if it was just the expected bravado from the winning team.

Ed Gillespie appeared next and was not ready to admit defeat spouting those plastic talking points like an old pro. Acording to Gillespie, Hasert handled everything perfectly. He was optimistic that everyone would see how great things were going under Republican rule.

Gibson asked him if situations were reversed wouldn't he do the same thing as Pelosi. Gillespie too deeply entrenched in the Republican message was incapable of answering a spontaneous question so he just kept rolling along with his blah blah blahs.
