Did General Casey Give An Exit Strategy?

Reported by Donna - August 30, 2006 -

During this week of Katrina rememberences on Studio B, Shepard Smith found 3 minutes to cover the war in Iraq where they said 50 + people had died today in an awful bloody day in Iraq.

What was interesting is General Casey made an interesting observation.

Smith framed it that though it was a bloody day in Iraq the Pentagon could see a day where the Iraqis could take over security in Iraq. General Casey said that he didn't have a date but he could see over the next 12 - 18 months the Iraqi forces taking over security for the country with very little help from the coalition troops.

Comments: Doesn't it sound like General Casey is giving a time frame for a pull out of troops? He doesn't have a date but he gives the 12 - 18 months timeframe. As usual, Fox framed the terrible violence in Iraq with the story that the Iraqi troops may take over within 12 - 18 months. In other words, yes, it was bloody, there were a lot of deaths, but look on the bright side -- the Iraqi troops may take over in 12 - 18 months.
