Sean Hannity: If Democrats Win In November, We Will Be More Vulnerable And Susceptible To Terrorism. TAKE ACTION

Reported by Ellen - August 22, 2006 -

Apparently, Sean Hannity realizes that facts and logic are not on his side this election year. So once again, he resorted to lies, smears and fear-mongering in order to scare voters away from Democrats this November. There seems to be no aspersion too great for Hannity to cast against his fellow countrymen, so long as it might help Republicans. The only thing more disgusting is that FOX News, the “we like America” network lets him do it. TAKE ACTION

Last night (8/21/06) on Hannity & Colmes, Hannity complained about the politicization of the war on terror. Whenever Hannity complains about someone else politicizing something, it’s a sure sign he’s about to do the same. Not only did he shamelessly assert that a Democratically-controlled Congress would make the country more “vulnerable and susceptible” to terrorism, he also misrepresented Democratic positions by saying that Democrats argue “about whether to intercept a call from Al Qaeda” and “don’t even want us to interview Osama bin Laden’s driver.” Hannity is either the world’s most ignorant news employee or he deliberately distorted Democrats’ opposition which is against UNLAWFUL interceptions and searches without warrants. Media Matters has an excellent post on how the right wing has distorted the Democrats' position.

Just as dismaying was Bob Beckel’s limp defense in which he repeatedly agreed with Hannity.

The only amusing part was Dick Morris’ increasing criticism of George Bush. In the previous segment, Morris theorized that Republicans are in trouble because Bush has been so successful in the war on terror. In this segment, Morris likened Bush to a “great, big truck” that you can’t pass and that won’t speed up.

Watch the video below and if you’re as disgusted as I am, contact FOX News at comments@foxnews.com or hannity@foxnews.com or colmes@foxnews.com and Visa, one of the advertisers last night. You can contact Visa via their web email. Here’s a copy of what I wrote.

I wonder if you're aware that Sean Hannity, the host of one of the programs you advertise on, Hannity & Colmes, on FOX News Channel, announced last night that if Democrats take over Congress in November that it will make us more vulnerable and more susceptible to terrorism. Hannity regularly demonizes Democrats in this divisive way. Considering that more than half the country favors Democrats right now, I'm wondering how you feel about supporting this kind of attack on the majority of Americans? I, myself, am a Democrat and would not want to do business with a company that doesn't support all Americans, regardless of their political beliefs. Isn't that the American way? I look forward to your response.

Note: Mea culpa! I recently became an Independent. I was a Democrat all my voting life and I forgot I'm no longer one.
