Judgment Day Speculation On FOX

Reported by Deborah - August 21, 2006 -

John Gibson wanted the scoop from Rudi Bakhtiar on August 22 which marks the holy day on the Islamic calendar that is the day of reckoning for Shiites. Some Shiite sects believe that August 22 could correspond to the end of the world. Gibson wanted to know why Ahmadinejad chose the eve of this date to announce Iran's nuclear plans.

Bakhtiar informed viewers that Iran uses a solar calendar which begins in the spring. August 22 is actually the last day of the month in Iran so the 22nd would make more sense than the suggested August 31 adding that they like to play head games in Iran too. She suggested that a war might be needed there because Iranians are very unhappy. The economy is bad just like in 1979 before the revolution adding that they don't like all the money going to Hizbollah. Bakhtiar also explained the religious and historical significance of August 22 ending on a particularly scary interpretation involving a bright light over Jerusalem representing " the bomb".

comment: Her tone of voice and the way she said " the bomb" was amused but she got the point across to viewers. We're being prepped for more war and FOX seems to be working overtime. Maybe they're making up for time lost while chasing ratings with the JonBenet story
