Fox Says 'On This Day When Israel Declares Victory'

Reported by Donna - August 14, 2006 -

We so often discuss that we need to understand the people in the middle east yet Fox continues to use language that shows they, in fact, have no clue. Today on Fox News Live with Bill Hemmer (12 - 1 p.m.) Patti Ann Browne said the following, "On the day when Israel declares victory...."

Comments: Of course there are Muslims who watch Fox News in this country and they hear the words Israel and declared victory. In trying to understand them they shouldn't be saying either side could declare a victory. It was a terrible war with nearly 1,000 Lebanese dead and over 100 Israeli soldiers dead. I don't think anyone is the victor in a war and I especially think that Fox shouldn't be proclaiming that Israel is declaring victory. Patti Ann Browne also spoke about one of the 'greatest warriers' Prime Minister Sharon being close to death. When you use words like victory and greatest warrior for Israel you tend to alienate the Muslim population.

Later on in the show they said that the leader of Hezbollah was expected to speak shortly (he didn't on Fox News Live) and they expected him to declare victory.

Why play into this who won game? Just report the news that there was a war, it was tragic and innocent people died. It's not a video game.
