Dick Morris Says Democrats Doing Well Until Today

Reported by Deborah - August 10, 2006 -

Dick Morris was very upbeat tonight, on The O'Reilly Factor, about the bump Republicans would get from the arrests of suspected terrorists in London."This is going to be huge!", he told Bill O'Reilly claiming that the public " didn't believe what almost happened, could happen."

Morris stressed the importance of the 5th anniversary of 9/11 coinciding with Bush stopping this potential terrorist attack. He claimed it would take the Bush numbers from 36% to the mid 40s and bring the Democrat numbers down. Morris opined that people will realize that " they still need him."

That struck a chord because of a news analysis in Buzzflash today with a quote from a dictator in a film with a chilling similarity.
"As the Orwellian dictator in the film "V for Vendetta" screams to his "cabinet" at one point: "I want them to know that they need us."

O'Reilly agreed that it would " refocus" people from gas prices and Iraq but seemed concern that Democrats would claim that we have increased the hatred around the world bringing more terrorism.

Morris was not discouraged claiming that the plot stopped today could have been another 9/11.
Because Bush does well with anything connected with homeland security this issue should be stressed. " Republicans need to play Ju-Jitsu". Claiming that the Democrats were doing well until today because " the memory will sear itself"into the voter's minds and there will be a focus on 9/11.

comment: I wonder if Dick Morris and Bill O'Reilly knew how bizarre and callous they appeared in that segment. If anyone wondered if the arrests were timed for political reasons, this segment would sure convince them. Dick Morris has been steeped in politics so long, he sees everything and everyone through a strategist's filter.O'Reilly seemed only worried about how the left would try to take away the poll bump. He complains that Democrats politicize 9/11 but this segment was like a how to guide.
