Fox Takes Time Out Of 'All Israeli Coverage All of the Time' To Bring Mention Of Iraq

Reported by Donna - July 25, 2006 -

Studio B with Shepard Smith kept up the 'all Israeli coverage all of the time' to have a brief segment on the deteriorating conditions in Baghdad. Don't get me wrong - most of the show was still concentrated on the Israeli/Lebanon conflict, but Iraq finally got mentioned.

Seems the Iraqi Prime Minister was at the White House and the president said that he asked for more troops in Baghdad because of the increase in attacks there. More U.S. troops and Iraqi troops will be headed for the area.

Comments: Mideast fatigue is starting to set in and people want to know what is happening in the world besides this regional conflict. With all of the horrible news coming out of Iraq with the stepped up violence and attacks, it was about time that Fox finally mentioned the Iraq War in which our soldiers are involved in. We can also understand Fox wanting to stay away from news in Iraq since it is a worsening situation. 14,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed in the first 6 months of 2006. In May and June alone there have been 6,000 killed. That's averaging 100 Iraqi civilian deaths a day. Other sources have been talking about a possible civil war going on in Iraq - we were lucky to get a mention from Fox.

Other news was that Israelis came away from talks with Condeleeza Rice with the impression that the U.S. would condone another week to 10 days in their conflict with Hezbollah. So we can expect another 7 to 10 days of constant coverage of the mideast conflict from Iraq on Fox? Perhaps.
