US Citizens Awaiting Evacuation in Lebanon Are Having a Katrina Moment

Reported by Melanie - July 17, 2006 -

The first segment on Your World w/Cavuto today (July 17, 2006) featured a report by Fox's Greg Burke who was in Beirut, Lebanon. The topic of Burke's report, as reflected in the chyron at the bottom of the screen was: "Americans in Lebanon Preparing to Evacuate."

Burke said, "There are a limited number of Americans who have been taken out, but still the mass evacuation has not begun. There have been some complaints about that. People telling us they're not getting the right response or what they'd hoped from the Americans. However, there's a huge number of people, nearly 20,000, who have to be taken out." He said, "the British, Italians [and] some French" have been evacuated already.

Earlier today I heard that the Saudis and Bahrainis have been evacuated too.

It seems to me that a more appropriate title for the segment would have been something like: "What's Taking the US Government So Long to Get its Sh*t Together?!" (If a Democrat lived in the White House I'm sure it would have read more along those lines.) Nonetheless, it looks like Americans in Lebanon are getting a taste of what it's like to be dependent on the same crowd of incompetents responsible for helping the citizens of the Gulf Coast before and after Hurricane Katrina.
