O'Reilly's 15 Minutes of Shame

Reported by Judy - July 7, 2006 -

If everyone gets 15 minutes of fame in the television age, BIll O'Reilly got 15 minutes of shame recently when he lost the ratings race to rival Keith Olbermann. And it wasn't even the night Olbermann named O'Reilly the "worse, worser, and worst person in the world."

Olbermann's "Countdown" show on MSNBC beat Fox News' "O'Reilly Factor" in the 25-54 age group on Friday (June 30, 2006). The Daily Kos relayed the scoop from Media Bistro.

"At 8:45pm, MSNBC had 244,000 and FNC had 240,000 demo viewers. (Zahn had 132,000 and Grace had 75,000 for the same quarter hour.) For the full hour, O'Reilly averaged 264,000 and Countdown had 210,000. (Zahn had 147,000 and Grace had 69,000.), " reported Media Bistro/TvNewser on Thursday (July 6, 2006).

Sure, O'Reilly was a rerun, but even his new shows are usually a repeat of the same old rantings anyway.

Timing is everything. O'Reilly's slip in the ratings comes as Roger Ailes has threatened the jobs of Fox News' employees because of the news channels ratings slide, warning that even the on-air "talent" needs to up their effort.

Does "talent" include O'Reilly?
