News Hounds changing commenting software
Reported by Chrish - June 22, 2006
Thanks to all your great comments, insights, links, debates, arguments, and cyber-brawls we've amassed over 300,000 comments in our database. The slowness we've been experiencing is due to the time it takes to load all these. We've come upon a solution - actually, the fabulous, brilliant and indispensible Jim Gilliam has come up with a solution that should speed things up. In his own words:
Within the next day or two we are going to move to haloscan for comments on all new posts. Haloscan on most other sites works like a pop-up window, but our site will work a little differently. It will look more like a regular News Hound page, with the two major differences being: 1) it's on a separate page from the blog post itself, and 2) it will be much faster!
Look for this improvement over the next few days, and keep those comments coming!
