Republican Gloating On Big Story

Reported by Deborah - June 13, 2006

Happy days are here again at FOX News. Andrew Napolitano, in for John Gibson, was full of enthusiastic optimism as he reported all the recent developments that have raised the Bush approval numbers to 38%. Jim Angle and the Judge gloated about Rove and Larry Sabato gleefully dismissed the Democrats as a powerless force. The celebration was heightened by a Fox News Alert for a Rumsfeld briefing and Joe Biden praising the surprise visit to Iraq by Bush.

Jim Angle reported that Karl Rove is in the clear and joined Napolitano in quietly ridiculing Chuck Schumer for suggesting that more investigation was needed. Angle said there were a few loose ends surrounding Bob Woodward but acted as if that was nothing to worrry about.

Larry Sabato, U. of Virginia, agreed that the combination of Karl Rove, Zarqawi and the surprise visit to Iraq was great for the President. Napolitano sounding amused asked him about the resolution Democrats were planning to bring the troops home by 2007. Sabato said it was poor timing but it doesn't matter because everyone knows it will fail. He had this to say about the Democrats as the opposition party:
" You can take any action and there will be no consequences. Nothing you do passes."

Then there was a Fox News Alert showing Rumsfeld giving a nebulous statement about terrorism . Rumsfeld had nothing new to report saying that we will make it difficult for terrorists to operate. When General Pace came up to make a statement, they cut away.

Joe Biden claimed the surprise trip to Iraq by Bush was a good thing. Biden distanced himself from the resolution to bring the troops home by 2007 adding to the perception that all is right in Iraq. The reservations about future progress he expressed was negated by his lack of support for fellow Democrats.

comment: I guess we didn't realize that everything is wonderful now in Iraq and Bush is an excellent President. I must have missed that memo.
