Zarqawi Death Means More War To B Boys
Reported by Deborah - June 11, 2006
The Beltway Boys were very excited about Zarqawi's death claiming it was a "great day". Kondracke opined that we should now " mount an offensive" and Barnes suggested a real clean up in Baghdad. 6/10/06
Kondracke said this was not the time to "stand down or back" despite the fact that an offensive would " create more casualties" and Bush' poll numbers would "take a hit".
Barnes proclaimed Zarqawi "the General" adding "the other guys in the caves don't matter." Barnes advocated really cleaning up Baghdad because " it's one thing to have chaos in the boondocks". He actually snorted in disdain mentioning Pete Stark's comment that "Iraq is a mess" and claimed that now John Murtha is "pathetic".
comment: Mort Kondracke was so casual about advocating " more casualties" it makes me wonder if he actually knows anyone fighting in Iraq. More casulties means more flag draped coffins; more children without parents; more injured veterans with shattered lives to rebuild and more grief stricken parents mourning their dead children. Kondracke and Barnes act like this is some sort of paint ball battle with painless and bloodless casualties. John Murtha has experienced battle and understands the reality of war. Pathetic should be used to describe two very comfortable, insulated D.C. pundits who think this war is just another football game to win.
