Throwing Specter Under the Bus

Reported by Janie - June 8, 2006

As usual, when a Republican steps out of line and attempts to take the Bush Administration to task, they are automatically thrown under the bus by Fox News. Last night (6/7) on Special Report was no exception, as Brit Hume went after Senator Arlen "Magic Bullet" Specter for his letter to Vice President Cheney, taking him to task for attempting to undermine the NSA warrantless wiretapping probe. Of course, much pertinent information was left out of the segment, once again allowing Fox viewers to be less informed.

Hume droned, "Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter has written an indignant letter to Vice President Cheney , who Specter accuses of trying to undermine an inquiry into the National Security Agency's database of domestic phone calls.

Specter claims the Vice President lobbied Republican committee members to oppose any hearings on the subject, writing, 'I was surprised, to say the least, that you sought to influence, really determine, the action of the committee without calling me first.' Specter adds, 'this was especially perplexing since we both attended the Republican senators caucus lunch yesterday and I walked directly in front of you on at least two occasions en route from the buffet to my table.'"

Of course Fox forgot to mention that the letter is nothing more than a political ploy to save face on Specter's part, as he has already caved to the Administration and decided not to subpoena the Telecom executives that have been working in concert with the Administration.

And you wonder why Fox viewers are less informed.
