Fox Continues to Push Democratic Scandals While Ignoring Republican Scandals
Reported by Janie - June 7, 2006
Last night (6/6) on Special Report with Brit Hume, the top story during the "Two Minutes of Hate" (AKA "Grapevine") segment was an additional hit piece on Rep. Patrick Kennedy, another in a long line of segments highlighting Kennedy, Cynthia McKinney, William Jefferson, and Harry Reid, all of whom are Democrats.
Hume droned, "Congressman Patrick Kennedy continues to deny that he'd been drinking before wrecking his car on Capitol Hill last month, blaming the accident on prescription medication. (But Hume seems pretty certain he WAS drinking - and uses the phrase "continues to deny" despite Kennedy checking into DRUG rehab, and there being no evidence that Kennedy WAS drinking that night)
In his first statements since leaving drug rehab at the Mayo clinic, Kennedy noted that the waitress who claimed to serve him that night also works for Republican congressman, Roy Blunt of Missouri (Motive, anyone?) saying, 'The most she said she served me, if she did, was one drink.'
Kennedy also denies asking for preferential treatment from Capitol police, adding that he's prepared to be arrested just like anybody else."
This was just another segment in a long line of segments that cover each and every transgression made by a Democrat ad nausea. There has not been one single mention on Special Report of Senator Frist being fined $11,000 for breaking FEC laws, Tom DeLay's name hasn't been mentioned in ages, the CIA leak investigation has been swept under the rug, there has been approximately 1 segment on Tom Noe, and scant coverage of David Safavian. Even non-stories, such as the Harry Reid boxing affair, have gotten more coverage than most of these Republican scandals.
For a "fair and balanced" news channel, it's a bit shocking they would completely ignore or pay scant attention to most Republican scandals, while hammering the same Democratic scandals day after day after day.
