Hey, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

Reported by Judy - May 18, 2006

Fox News failed to score a trifecta in Keith Olbermann's daily derby for the "worst person in the world" on Thursday (May 18, 2006), but hey, two out of three ain't bad. In his MSNBC's "Countdown" show, Olbermann named two Fox News personalities the "worser" and "worst" persons in the world.

Okay, so you know who one of them was, but can you name the other?

If you guessed Mort Kondracke, you get a gold star. As News Hound Janie pointed out in her post on the incident, Kondracke criticized telephone companies like Qwest that did not turn over information about their customers' phone calls to the government, without a warrant, under Geoge Bush's domestic spying program. Kondracke claimed that Qwest was helping terrorists, and that the U.S. Constitution should not be considered a suicide pact.

Guess we've come a long way from "Better dead than red" and "Give me liberty or give me death."

As Olbermann said, "No, Mort. Undermining our freedoms and making money off fear-mongering -- that's helping terrorists."

If you missed Kondrache's attack on Americans' right to be left alone, even when they're on the phone, you can watch the video here.

As un-American as Kondracke's comments were, however, Olbermann reserved the top prize in the worst person in the world contest for Bill-O. When his make-up artist was mugged on the streets of New York, O'Reilly somehow tied it back to drug addicts and Mexican drug corruption.

Recounting O'Reilly's tortured logic, Olbermann concluded, "You lost me. I'm surprised you didn't tie the mugging back somehow to me."

Cue the spooky organ music.
