Protesting too much over Da Vinci Code?
Reported by Chrish - May 16, 2006
An entire segment/interview was devoted to deconstructing a work of fiction on the Big Story today 5/16/06.. Author Amy Welborn revealed the five biggest flaws in Dan Brown's best seller, in advance of the movie starring Tom Hanks being released this Friday.
The host and guest were snickering at the "inaccuracies" being exposed about the book, delighted to be playing journalism and revealing important information to their audience.
My library lists the book as follows:
Main Public Library Copies 2 Material Adult book Location FICTION BROWN
Material has been checked/charged out 2 Adult book On hold for someone
This brings to mind the conservative furor over the Ronald Reagan docu-drama forced off the (wimpy corporate) airwaves and over to Showtime because it allegedly portrayed St. Ronnie in a less than perfect glow. This makes me laugh because they're having fits that a work of fiction, a mystery-thriller, is not up to the standards of an historical documentary. How insecure is that?
