Fred Barnes Delighted Over "Culture Of Corruption Blowback"
Reported by Deborah - May 7, 2006
Fred Barnes was mighty chipper last night on Beltway Boys because he claimed that Democrats are now experiencing a "culture of corruption blowback". With a shot of Nancy Pelosi overhead, he warned Democrats with the people in glass houses cliche. Naming two Democrats with recent legal problems, he of course added Patrick Kennedy as another example of Democrat corruption. 5/6/06
Barnes mention William Jefferson D., La. ,who is being investigated over bribery charges, as the first example of the "blowback" followed by Alan Mollohan who stepped down from the Ethics Committee over questionable charities.
However, talking about Patrick Kennedy brought a real gleem to his eyes reporting that Kennedy "is in trouble again" and ridiculing him for taking Ambien and going out. Barnes even found a clip of Kennedy's first incident with prescription drug confusion while going through airport security admitting with a chuckle that he would get in trouble for showing it. Well, at least, Barnes didn't pretend to feel compassion for Congressman Kennedy's problem. He was unapologetically pleased.
Barnes saved his compassion for his President commenting that Republicans and Conservative are " all down in the dumps and depressed" but he had a suggestion that might cheer up the President. He thought it would be a good idea for Bush to step in and veto the spending bill because " It'll feel good for him. He hasn't had a veto." 5/6/06
