Bush Acts Like He's Talking About Eager Beavers, Not The Iraqi People

Reported by Donna - May 1, 2006

On Fox News Live Today with Bill Hemmer (12 - 1 p.m) he spoke with White House Correspondant, Wendall Goler, about the postivie spin on Iraq from the president.

Goler said that the president said we had reached a 'turning point' in Iraq. He said that the Iraqis were full of energy and eager to succeed.

Comment: It sounded like an odd kind of statement to make. The last I heard reported was that 100,000 Iraqis had become refugees, fleeing their own homes to try and get someplace safe in Iraq. Is this the energy he's speaking of? I guess it takes a lot of energy to get 100,000 people moving.

These blanket/broad statements that he makes always crack me up. There is no way to prove them and no way to disprove them. I could say that the Iraqis are lethargic and despondent about change ever helping them. I can't prove it either, but I have a better chance than he does by the actual actions that are happening in Iraq right now, i.e., troops deaths up, militia killings, 100,000 people moving to try and find safe areas.

Maybe you guys know better than the president - do the Iraqis seem full of energy and eager to succeed?
