We Aren't in America Any More

Reported by Janie - April 21, 2006

Last night (4/20) on Special Report with Brit Hume, Fox White House Correspondent Carl Cameron filed a report on the President's joint statement made with Chinese President Hu Jintao, and briefly covered the woman that interrupted these remarks to protest China's ban and persecution of the religious group Falun Gong.

On the protest Cameron had this to say, "A very rare occurrence, the White House welcome was disrupted. As President Hu spoke, one demonstrator shouted from a press platform that Mr. Bush should stop the Chinese persecution of the Falon Gong Spiritual movement, which is banned in China. During the outburst, President Bush told his guest ‘you’re ok’. After the woman was removed, it was learned she had obtained press credentials through a New York Falon Gong affiliated newspaper, that said she was expected to act as a journalist, not an activist. The president later apologized to Hu, saying he regretted the unfortunate disruption.”

The woman began her protest, begging for President Bush's help, just as Chinese President Hu Jintao began speaking, only moments after Bush had this to say about China:

"China has become successful because the Chinese people are experience the freedom to buy, and to sell, and to produce -- and China can grow even more successful by allowing the Chinese people the freedom to assemble, to speak freely, and to worship."

Freedom of speech? Are we sure we even have that in this country anymore?

What was not mentioned at ALL on Special Report, was after this brave woman stood up to the Dictator of Communist China, begging the President of the free world to help save her people, she was arrested and, according to Yahoo News, "she had been charged with disorderly conduct and that a charge of intimidating or disrupting foreign officials was also being considered."

The charge of "intimidating" a foreign official carries a prison term of 6 months. IN AMERICA.

None of this was mentioned on Special Report.

What's incredibly sad is that government officials and media outlets (including CNN and MSNBC) are calling this action "embarrassing" to the United States. The President of the United States turned to the Dictator of China, who is involved in the forced killing of children and the murder of protesters, and comforts HIM by saying "You're ok", as the woman screams for help from a ruthless dictator. IN AMERICA!

Once again, we see where the corporate media and the "Corporate Administration" stand when it really comes to freedom - on the side of the almighty dollar.
