FOX News Historian Claims Cheney a "Great Public Servant" - Should Resign for "Health Reasons"
Reported by Marie Therese - April 21, 2006
Douglas Brinkley is a professor of History at Tulane University, an author and the one historian FOX News always calls in when it wants to give an academic sheen to some unpleasant new idea. Yesterday morning on FOX & Friends, Brinkley opined, "Dick Cheney at this point has been - he's one of the great pubic servants in American history - but he's become a liability. You have a President with poll numbers around 35% approval with a Vice President in the 20s. You've got to make a change."
Brinkley continued, "I would think if he could resign for health reasons and move somebody like Condoleezza Rice into that spot or bring somebody in, a new face for the Republican Party, like [Sen. George] Allen of Virginia, it would be very helpful thing for the President."
FOX host Brian Kilmeade muttered approval throught Brinkley's speech.
There is nothing that warms the cockles of my Irish Democratic heart like the sight of Republican rats deserting their sinking ship!
