When Racist Fox Says "Illegals," It Means Mexicans. Period.

Reported by Melanie - April 20, 2006

The second segment on Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (April 20, 2006) featured guest Donald Smith, the Sheriff of Putnam County, New York. The topic was illegal immigration and Smith talked about some of the "illegals" he has arrested in his neck of the woods.

During most of the segment Fox aired a split screen showing the same video it has been using for weeks now - that of people wading across a river (which I assume is the Rio Grande), Border Patrol vehicles driving along a dusty road across desert-like terrain, and a group of bedraggled Mexicans sitting in a circle on the ground while Border Patrol officers shine flashlights in their faces.

Fox also aired a chyron at the bottom of the screen during most of the segment. It read:

NY Sheriff Arresting Illegals Thousands of Miles From Border

(Emphasis added.)

Putnam County, New York is located approximately 25 miles North of New York City and 300 miles south of the Canadian border.

Comment: In Fox Land, talk of the "border" means the only border that counts - the Mexican border. What racists.
