Charles Krauthammer on The White House Shake Up

Reported by Janie - April 20, 2006

Yesterday (4/19) on Special Report with Brit Hume's "All Star Panel" at the close of the show, Brit Hume had regular guest, neo-conservative Charles Krauthammer on the show, where he actually gave an honest assessment of the "staff shake-up" in the White House.

When it was Krauthammer's turn during the panel discussion to voice his opinion on Scott McClellen's resignation and Karl Rove's change of job description he said, “What's happening here is when things aren't going well, you change the subject. The reason that the country is in a funk and the President's numbers are low is because gas prices are high and the war in Iraq is not going very well, the government there is still not being formed. There isn't much the President can do about those in the short run, so you change the subject now instead of the policy.”

It was extremely refreshing to hear such an honest assessment of the current situation in the White House on Fox, and the neo-conservative's opinion was one of reason during a panel discussion that honestly addressed the topic, rather than spewing Republican talking point after talking point.
