Julie Banderas' interesting characterization of race

Reported by Chrish - March 30, 2006

The Big Story today 3/30/06 was largely focused on Mary Winkler with a smattering of news tid-bits and a fair share of fluff pieces.

Julie Banderas reported on the suspension of the entire Duke lacrosse team while an alleged rape by three members is investigated. In the course of that story she reported that racial tensions were high between "the affluent Duke students" and "the low income Durham residents". An inadvertant truth: the affluent students are white and the low-income residents are not. I wonder if the typical Fox viewer will pick up on that correlation between race and class, and the casual attitude that takes it for granted that we know who's who.
