Fox 'Explains' The President's Speech Using The Banner Method

Reported by Donna - March 22, 2006

Fox sometimes uses what I call the 'Banner Method' in summing up a story for it's audience, so I thought you'd enjoy seeing how they interpreted what the President said in his speech to a mostly military audience today.

In the 18 or so minutes leading up to the speech they had this banner running several times:

*Pres Bush To Make Remarks On The War On Terror Soon

(Comment: I thought he was speaking on the war in Iraq, but, ok)

The banners ran as follows:

Comments: I wrote most of my comments next to the various banners that Fox aired. Do you feel brainwashed, hypnotized? I mean, they used the repeat and repeat over and over again and you know this is Fox's and the Bush Administration's way of trying to make something truth - just keep repeating it and it makes it so in their minds. I didn't today, but sometimes I switch to check on CNN and they usually just run the speech, sans banners - I know that the speech was still on Fox but was no longer being covered by CNN towards the end of it today. I'm not sure when they switched off, but Fox stayed with it all the way through.

It's so nice for Fox to clarify what the president is saying.
