Bush Tellling Terror Tales
Reported by Judy - March 21, 2006
Fox News channel gave up its "Dayside" programming on Monday (March 20, 2006) to air George Bush answering questions after his speech before the City Club of Cleveland, during which Bush alternating between trying to scare the audience to death and promising to keep them safe.
Bush's strategy showed up in his word choice. During the one hour usually devoted to "Dayside," Bush used the phrase "war on terror" nine times, the word "terrorist(s)" eight times, and the word "threat(s)" 12 times. But he promised to "protect the American people" or "protect America" 12 times.
How anyone can believe Bush is capable of protecting anybody after his administration's dismal performance after Katrina and his plan to let an Arab country run six major American ports is beyond me. Those 37 percent of Americans who still support Bush must still be stuck on him as some father figure who reads his kids a scary bedtime story and then promises to protect them from the monsters under their beds.
Fox stayed with Bush's speech so long that "Dayside" had no time for the two guests they had asked to stand by to comment. Cute trick. Democratic rebuttal? Sorry, time's up.
