John Gibson Smirks At France and Nantucket

Reported by Deborah - March 17, 2006

John Gibson, ready to party today, wore a pretty ridiculous green derby in honor of St. Patricks Day while he delivered his My Word commentary about the launch of a 24 hour news channel in France. Any news item about France always gets a special tweak and spin from Gibson since it's one of the countries he loves to hate. But today he got a special reason to celebrate because he also had a chance to smirk at Nantucket, a place he hasn't visited since the Kerry campaign. As if all that weren't enough, Gibson found a way to make fun of Camilla Parker Bowles too.

Gibson thought it was just great that the news channel in France will broadcast in English instead of French.

That's right. The pride of the French — a new satellite news service produced from the French point of view, also known as the anti-American point of view — will be in English.

France gets one lousy little three-hour-a-day news show to make the French speakers happy. But executives have figured out the thing only works if it is in the language of most of the world's influential people, which is English.

In the beginning of his commentary, he acknowledged St. Patricks Day and wearing of the green showing a shot of Camilla Parker Bowles and hinting that she looked rather silly.

It's a great day. Everybody gets to put on something green, even if that something should have stayed in the closet. Camilla Parker Bowles fell victim to the urge

Then there was a story about Nantucket's decision to ban chain stores on the island to maintain some local flavor and avoid becoming like every other American locale. Gibson really sneered at the idea suggesting that it showed an elitist snobbery. John Kerry and Nantucket are forever linked in the FOXland mentality.

comment: It's a shame that John Gibson can't be nice. He was in a really good mood today talking about his plans to celebrate and in fact seemed like he had already started his celebration. He just needs to be nasty which is probably why he has held on to his job at FNC.
