Hannity’s Commands To Yale University More Important Than US Security

Reported by Ellen - March 6, 2006

Friday night’s (3/3/06) Hannity & Colmes completely ignored President Bush’s controversial nuclear deal with India and the UAE port deal and chose as its top story another round of attacks on Yale University for having admitted a former Taliban spokesman as a student. The student in question, Rahmatullah Hashemi, has renounced the Taliban and, unlike the UAE, seeks no involvement in the operations of US ports. But Sean Hannity seemed to feel that Hashemi’s presence in our country is an event of far greater significance than the UAE’s.

Hannity has expressed concerns about the UAE port deal but with nothing of the vehemence reserved for Yale. Waving his finger at guest Mike Hoover, one of Hashemi’s US sponsors, Hannity made his demands on Yale and the US State Department for the fourth night in a row. “Now that we know about this… I say he should be sent back because if we’re gonna have a coveted position in Yale, it shouldn’t go to somebody that spent a good part of his life – and you’re making excuses for him – representing a regime like the Taliban and being a spokesman for the Taliban.”

At the end of the interview, Hannity reiterated those commands and added a new one for Yale. Pointing his finger in the air, he said, “This former Taliban apologist needs to be removed from Yale and sent back and Yale needs to come on and defend this decision.”
