Now The Port Deal Is About Racism

Reported by Donna - February 23, 2006

Over the course of the week you could see the change in coverage on the UAE Port issue on Fox. While there was concern at the beginning of the week, they also reported that the Bush administration was getting busy changing the message that was going out. It didn't take Fox long to follow along.

Today on Studio B, Shepard Smith teased twice that maybe the whole port issue was little more than racism. By the time he spoke with Fox News Business Contributor and regular on Bulls and Bears, Tobin Smith, the issue was -- racism.

Shepard Smith asked Tobin Smith what was the real concern regarding this particular port issue. He asked, "Is this little more than racism? A political problem not a reality problem?

Tobin Smith answered, "Absolutely," and went on to say that the worst part of racism is when someone is being racist and they don't know they're being racist. He furthered his point by uttering, "I mean, come on." He went on to say that American labor was too expensive and that is why no American Company bid on the port deal and that the American people are scared of people who aren't white.

Comment: I think Studio B has effectively 'changed the message' just like the Bush administration is trying to do. Now we have them echoing Bush's words, effectively calling the American people racist because they do not want the UAE to have control over our major ports.

Aren't you ashamed that you're so racist?
