Bill O'Reilly Defends the United Arab Emirates, Hub of Child Slavery & Prostitution
Reported by Marie Therese - February 22, 2006
Yes, that's right! The Great Culture Warrior who fulminates night in and night out about how he's "lookin' out for the kids" spent the last two nights defending a nation that has a blighted history of looking the other way when it comes to the abuse of children!
In his zeal to give aid and comfort to the Bush administration, O'Reilly hyped his own research, saying that he had investigated the United Arab Emirates extensively and had come to the conclusion that "firing" that country would damage our relations with the Arab world, cause that country to lose face and set back American diplomacy in the region.
Well, you know what? I don't frackin' care about the feelings of seven royal families who live in the lap of luxury while the most vulnerable among them are abducted, sold into slavery and forced to work as camel jockeys for the entertainment of wealthy sheikhs!
The story of young boys, abducted as young as 6 months and sold into servitude, was revealed in America on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" documentary The Sport of Sheikhs.
In 2005 the United States State Department identified the UAE as one of fourteen tier 3 countries "whose governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards and are not making significant efforts to do so." In essence, UAE got the lowest rating we can give.
From Radio Free Europe:
"'The latest U.S. State Department report on human trafficking, released in June , sharply criticizes the U.A.E. government for failing to tackle the links between prostitution and illegal trafficking. The report says: 'The United Arab Emirates is a destination country for men, women, and children trafficked primarily from South and East Asia and the former Soviet Union for the purposes of sexual and labor exploitation.'
"It adds: 'A significant number of foreign women are lured to the U.A.E. under false pretenses and subsequently forced into sexual servitude, primarily by criminals of their own country who take advantage of the U.A.E.'s openness.'"
Other sites that have stories about the sorry situation in the United Arab Emirates.
Bill O'Reilly thinks nothing of smearing members of the American judiciary and law enforcement community because they dare to "go easy" on pedophiles, yet, when it comes to flacking for his hero, George Bush, O'Reilly turns a blind eye to abuses in the UAE.
