Despite Growing Concerns, Fox Says Murdoch's Teen Sex Site - MySpace.com - is "Latest Online Darling"
Reported by Melanie - February 13, 2006
My local, in-the-heartland, CBS News channel is touting a story it will air tonight (February 13, 2006) at 10:00 p.m. about MySpace.com. MySpace.com is a website the owner of Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, acquired in July, 2005 when he purchased Intermix Media. My local station says it will show "how easy it is for stalkers to track down kids using this site."
In January I posted about MySpace.com bloggers who were concerned that Murdoch might be censoring their posts and blocking access to rival sites. Curious about the new stalking allegations, I Googled "MySpace dangerous" a few minutes ago and got 393,000+ hits. Then I remembered an article I saw this morning on FoxNews.com: Social Networking Site MySpace Is Latest Online Darling.
Comment: Rupert Murdoch has a global megaphone and he's using one of his biggest microphones, Fox News, to tout My$pace.com. If Murdoch uses his worldwide voice effectively, and if he says it often enough, he might turn My$pace.com into an "online darling," but, then again, maybe not.
P.S. Believe us, Murdoch, the (faux) born again, teetotaling, buttoned up, straight shooting businessman knows how to sell $ex.
