Is Libby Shopping For A Pardon?
Reported by Deborah - February 10, 2006
Judge Andrew Napolitano and John Gibson were discussing the recent report that Dick Cheney authorized Scooter Libby to reveal classified information which resulted in the outing of CIA Agent, Valerie Plame. Carl Cameron gave a reported on the situation at the start of Big Story claiming that Libby wouldn't mentioned this in court because it was unrelated to his charges. When Napolitano joined Gibson a bit later in the show, he suggested that Libby might be shopping for a pardon. 2/10/06
Napolitano told Gibson that even if Dick Cheney did authorize Libby to leak classified information, it has nothing to do with his defense on present charges so the Judge wouldn't allow it. He then added that the information would have no relevance except if "Libby is shopping for a pardon." Napolitano went further saying that if Libby did implicate Cheney then the Vice President would be forced to testify and the White House could claim that this would threaten national security allowing the President to issue a pardon.
Then Napolitano said that Libby had hired the lawyer who had defended Oliver North. The Judge made sure to add that North was " a friend and personal hero" adding that the lawyer had asked for too many documents from the State Department during the North trial causing them to just give up.
comment :I hope Libby won't be joining the Republican Rehab group on FNC . Can they really wiggle out of this one too.?
