Fred Barnes Is Keeping His Three SUVs
Reported by Deborah - February 5, 2006
Fred Barnes didn't seem to like the Bush comment about our "oil addiction" in the SOTU speech claiming, on Beltway Boys, that he didn't think Americans have reached that stage. He also was not enthusiastic about alternative fuels commenting that he didn't think "ethanol and methanol would help a whole lot". Barnes declared proudly, I'm keeping my three SUV's." Barnes acting like alternative fuels were too crazy for the real world might never consider the possibility that the emissions from his precious SUVs are contributing to a quickly escalating weather crisis.

Bush didn't choose to mention the problem of global warming during his speech. Even his mention of alternative energy was not appreciated by his profit driven supporters. The entire issue of global warming has been avoided strenuously by this administration and while they have fought to keep the truth under wraps, more damage has been done to the environment.
Barnes opined that talk about oil conservation always makes people buy smaller cars which are usually Japanese. This comment strongly suggests that he is painfully out of touch and somehow got stuck in the late 70's. Perhaps Barnes should read this piece from the Boston Globe and seriously consider trading his three SUV's for a Toyota Prius.
