Where Breaking News Changes Everything.......
Reported by Donna - January 16, 2006
A few months back I reported on two stories about Studio B promising stories, then not showing them at all during the show. Shortly after this Studio B changed their opening statement to include the words, 'where breaking news changes everything.'
Fair enough, but today they said two stories were coming up, one was on the beating of the homeless and Smith was going to have two attorney's on to speak about it. The other one was President Bush's speech on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Short on time? Only one way to solve this problem.
Apparently the president's speech didn't happen when they expected, so they announced to the audience that there was a 'Fox News Alert' and went straight to the president's speech. We heard the usual speech with a lot of 'God' references (of course to canned applause), but no story on the homeless who were beaten.
Comment: Apparently if you can't fit in your stories you announce that the president's speech is a 'Fox News Alert' and cover yourself. Smith said they'd save the homeless story for another day. See? Even if there is no 'breaking news' Fox can invent it.
