Day 3 Of Alito Hearings: A Half-Hearted Attempt At Balance On Hannity & Colmes

Reported by Ellen - January 12, 2006

Here was last night’s line-up of guests discussing the Alito nomination:

Ed Gillespie (R)
Dick Cheney (R)
Zell Miller – Democrat in name only
Dennis DeConcini (D)

Not surprisingly, both Democrats said they would confirm Alito. Neither of them mentioned any concerns about a "unitary executive." Their analysis was pretty much limited to whether or not the Democrats overstepped their boundaries by asking unfair questions. That left Alan Colmes as the only Alito critic (questionning his membership in C.A.P. and then claiming he couldn't remember it) and the staunchest defender of the Democrats' questions ("What was the attack? He was asked tough questions. He should be asked tough questions.")

Here's the H&C Alito line-up for the previous nights:

1/10/06 - Senator Lindsey Graham (R)
Catherine Crier (R)
Jay Sekulow (R)
Former Governor Christie Todd Whitman (R)

1/9/06 - Robert Novak (R)
