Everything Is Great Because We Say So

Reported by Deborah - December 10, 2005

In the world according to Mort and Fred everything is simply splendid. All those problems that were bringing down the Republican Party have vanished and the Bush approval numbers have gone up 5 whole points prompting the Boys to call it a "Bush Boom".12/10/05

Barnes was totally upbeat about the "macro" indications for the economy but had to admit that the "micro" signs that affect "real people and the kitchen table" were not as wonderful. Barnes claimed that rising health care costs was the main issue. Kondracke, sounded like a Democrat, adding to the list of problems for working folks like heating costs, tuition hikes, medicaid and student loan cuts. Barnes had the last word blowing some thick Republican fog over Kondrackes moment of reality. He claimed that if Republicans had cut Social Security in any way , Democrats would go crazy. He added that the tax cuts for the wealthy have created 100s of thousands of jobs and created this great economy.

Barnes assured viewers that Tom DeLay has done nothing wrong adding that he probably shouldn't have gotten on "the gravy train" like Democrats and Republicans have always done in the past but it's no big deal.

The Boys both had a chuckle at the idea that people are claiming that Jack Murtha's statement was distorted by Republicans. They showed a quick clip of Murtha saying "immediate withdrawl" but of course didn't air the "6 months" part of his statement.

The Air Marshalls in Florida behaved perfectly and the new TV Ad swiftboating Democrats for speaking out against the war is really nothing. Barnes blamed Nancy Pelosi for causing the moderate Republicans to stand up against the Republican majority. His reasoning was a pretzel twister too hard to put into words. Best of all, was Mort Kondracke calling Joe Lieberman his "hero" for turning on fellow Democrats.

comment: There must have been a miraculous intervention in the Rose Garden when Bush gave his come back speech. Like magic all the problems have vanished in Republican World. Too bad for them that the majority of Americans are experiencing the real world and our eyes are wide open now.
