A Biased Description of Tookie Williams Supporters

Reported by Ellen - December 6, 2005

Sean Hannity started a discussion about Tookie Williams with the following announcement implying that only those who oppose clemency for Tookie Williams are seeking justice: "The debate continues tonight between supporters of Tookie Williams and those who want justice for the victims that he murdered."

An interview with the step-mother of one of the victims followed, with lots of dramatic emotion both from the step-mother and from Hannity. Throughout the segment, as has been seen during every discussion of this issue, threatening-looking "perp" photos of Williams appeared, such as this one. A quick Google Image search shows that there are plenty of unthreatening photos out there that could have been used as well.

A truly balanced presentation would have included a less biased selection of photos and a murder-victim survivor against the death penalty.
