And Breaking News Changes Everything
Reported by Donna - November 30, 2005
Monitoring Studio B with Shepard Smith for a good 10 months now, I reported twice in October that Studio B teased a story here on October 11 and again on October 20th and never showed either story. Shortly after this Smith inserted a new phrase in the intro to Studio B's show. He now says, "And, where breaking news changes everything."
Could it be that Fox reads News Hounds?
Well, breaking news did change everything today as we followed a car chase (yes, again on a California highway) for 47 minutes of the show.
Though Smith tried to play cowboy and pined enthusiastically about the police shooting 10 times at the car, I found myself yawing and wondering who this scene mattered to across the nation since this is supposed to be a national news show. So I switched over to CNN and MSNBC since I was taping Studio B on another tv, to check out if they were covering the car chase to the same extent. They weren't.
Comments: The timing of the phrase 'And breaking news changes everything' with the fact that I had called them, twice, on promising a story and then not covering it, is highly suspicious.
However, you can all thank me for watching 47 minutes of a car chase in California so that you didn't have to. Perhaps we'll hear some real news tomorrow.
