BillOReilly.com: The High Cost of Contacting Mr. Bill

Reported by Marie Therese - November 27, 2005

As many of you already know, Bill O'Reilly does not like Robert Greenwald, director of OUTFOXED and Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price. On the O'Reilly Factor that aired on November 15th, Mr. Bill said this: "I don't care about the guy's movie. He's an idiot! He is. He's a liar and an idiot! ...." O'Reilly then went on to staunchly defend Wal-Mart in an interview with Fortune magazine's Julia Boorstin. One of our readers, Ryan Lothian, picked up on an interesting bit of hypocrisy with regard to O'Reilly's support of Wal-Mart and I have his permission to share it with you.

Editorial: Bill O’Reilly loves Wal-Mart, being inconsistent
By Ryan Lothian - 11/23/2005

In a recent attempt to contact Bill O’Reilly to ask him about his inexplicable loyalty to Wal-Mart and campaign against Robert Greenwald, director of “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price,” I hit a roadblock. I wanted to post a message on his web board or email him directly about the Wal-Mart essay I had written. It uses facts (many provided by Wal-Mart) and I thought he might like it. Just kidding, in all seriousness I actually just wanted him to respond by telling me I was, “just to the right of Fidel Castro.” Anyway, I could do neither of those things because I was not a “premium member” of his website. Just to email the idiot you have to pay $4.95 a month or $49.95 a year.

As I read about the “great features” I would receive for paying Bill $49.95, I came across this (referring to the items in the O'Reilly Store):

“All of our products proudly carry the made in USA label. Here at BillOReilly.com we go one step further to ensure that our products are not just manufactured here, but are made of 100% USA materials. This commitment to supporting the American economy is important to Bill and to all of us here at BillOReilly.com.”

Next to this is a “The Buck Stays Here! Made in USA” graphic. Clicking on the graphic reveals this:

“…Occasionally this 'Made In USA' policy leads to slightly higher prices for our goods than you may see other places on the internet. We hope that you will agree with us that this commitment is worth every penny.”

The fact is 80% of Wal-Mart’s suppliers manufacture their goods in China, which has helped decimate the American manufacturing base. I guess Bill either doesn’t know this or cares more about propagating lies than being consistent. Plus, he needs an excuse to charge more at his online store.
