Hypocrite-for-Hire Bill O'Reilly Spews More Venom - This Time His Target Is (Surprise, Surprise!) Robert Greenwald

Reported by Marie Therese - November 16, 2005

As evidenced by the screenshot below, Bill O'Reilly has often stated his opposition to the tactic of mouthing personal attacks in political debates.

However, last night [11-15-05] on the O'Reilly Factor, in direct contradiction to his own words, Bill O'Reilly used his "Impact Segment" to denigrate Robert Greenwald, director of the newly-released documentary "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price".

The segment was just a pretense to allow O'Reilly to get on his soapbox and sing the praises of poor, defenseless Wal-Mart, the misunderstood friend of the little people and for the umpteenth time prove himself to be one of the biggest hypocrites on television.

O'Reilly slimed Greenwald, saying "Now [Teddy] Kennedy should be careful because the guy he's partnering with, Robert Greenwald, as you may know, is the propagandist who put out the dishonest OUTFOXED documentary - he's a radical progressive who blames America first and even made an admiring movie about Abby Hoffman, of all people."

And later, in comments made to Fortune Magazine writer Julia Boorstin: "So Kennedy wants what? He - and the people he's hangin' around with - this Greenwald [makes disgusted face and dismissive gesture with his hands] - is - I mean, this guy is like just to the right of Fidel Castro. I mean the guy is just a ridiculous human being. What does Kennedy want? Does he want not to have low-cost department stores or - what does he want? Is Kennedy a socialist? Is that what he wants? Everything regulated. A guaranteed wage? A guaranteed lifestyle? That's what it sounds like to me. [wags finger at screen] And that's who he's hangin' around with! ... I don't care about the guy's movie. He's an idiot! He is. He's a liar and an idiot! ...."

COMMENT

O'REILLY: "A guaranteed wage" A guaranteed lifestyle?"

Yes, Bill. Exactly that. Exactly what our parents had. Nothing more. Nothing less. Courtesy of the American labor movement.

Additionally, on the personal front, we News Hounds know Robert Greenwald. Contrary to the filth that Little Billy O'Reilly spewed forth last night, Robert is anything but a "ridiculous" human being who hates America. Quite the contrary. He is passionate about justice, especially for the little guys, the ones who are being steam-rolled by large multi-national corporations whose operant philosophy seems to be: He who dies with the most toys, wins.

Watch the documentary for yourself and make up your own mind about whether or not Wal-Mart is good or bad for America.

As for Billy's little barbs? Need I remind Mister Bill that he tried the same tactics when OUTFOXED arrived on the scene and, lo and behold, Robert Greenwald and his co-producer and our superlative blogfather, Jim Gilliam, are still kicking butt and taking on the big boys.

And so are we. We News Hounds will continue, hot on the trail of FOX News' lies, distortions, half-truths and mindless loyalty to the Bush party line until hell freezes over or FOX News changes its tune, whichever comes first!
