Intel leak could harm national security (Bush White House) - Republicans want investigation
Reported by Chrish - November 10, 2005
Jane Skinner reported at the bottom of the hour on The Big Story yesterday 11/8/05:
"Republican leaders in Congress are calling for an investigation into the disclosure of secret CIA *prisons. "
*The Washington Post reported on *terrorist interrogation centers allegedly located in eastern Europe. The Bush administration has not confirmed or denied the information, but Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and House Speaker Dennis Hastert want to know how the newspaper got the information. They say if it is true, the leak could have "damaging and dangerous consequences."
Comment: This is too easy. Substitute agent for prisons, Bob Novak for the Washington Post, covert operator for terrorist interrogation, and it's Traitorgate, with the same type consequences. The obvious differences are 1. this revelation could be harmful to the administration, not a detractor and 2. it appears they really don't know where this one came from. Hence the Republican investigation.
The irony and hypocrisy are lost on Fox viewers.
