Something Constructive You Can Do

Reported by Nancy - November 9, 2005 -

Next Monday, November 14, marks a very important date: it's the mailing deadline for shipping parcel post holiday packages to our men & women in the US military who are serving in Iraq & Afghanistan.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or none of the above, make sure that somebody over there gets a gift this holiday season. If you don't personally know anyone on active duty overseas, you can call your local VFW or American Legion & they can give you some names & APOs of soldiers serving in Iraq & Afghanistan who have no one to send them a present this year. Pick one -- or, better yet, several -- then go to the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), where you can find out how to buy overseas telephone calling cards & small appropriate gifts. AAFES will make sure your gifts arrive on time.

Comments: Thank you, Ebonius, for the reminder!

NOTE TO READERS: Please stay on topic (holiday gifts for US military serving overseas). Do NOT try to turn this into a pro-war/anti-war argument. O/T comments will be deleted. Thanks.
