Tom DeLay travels like royalty to appear on Fox News Sunday - courtesy of his hosts

Reported by Chrish - November 4, 2005

Before he began his career as a self-serving politician Tom DeLay was an ordinary working guy, an exterminator who would have flown business class with the rest of us regular citizens. Now it appears his pest-killing skills have fled and he fears catching cooties from the riff-raff.

According to PoliticalMoneyLine , Fox News Channel paid out the nose for DeLay's travel to and from an appearance on Fox News Sunday the weekend of October 1-2, 2005, days after his indictment. DeLay used the air-time to make his case, defend himself, build himself up and smear the prosecutors and accusers he is facing.

Reportedly DeLay filed a report with the Clerk of the House of Representatives indicating he received free travel valued at $13,998.55 from Fox . According toTravelocity.com, a non-stop trip from Houston (George Bush Intercontinental, of course) to Washington D.C. (Ronald Reagan Washington National, natch) and back again on Sunday can be reserved within 48 hours for under $1,000.00. He could throw in a hotel room (the Executive Suite at the Watergate, perfect) for another $300, a generous $200 for taxis and 2 meals, and we're talking a $1500.00 overnight - outrageous yet reasonable in a surreal way.

It would seemFox sent a corporate jet to chauffeur DeLay across the country. Good thing we're going to drill in ANWR so he doesn't have to live like the people he purportedly represents.
