Snap Shot Poll

Reported by Judy - October 27, 2005

If you blinked, you missed it. Fox News only displayed the results of its poll on George Bush's approval rating for a few seconds, but it could not hide the bad news. Voters still disapprove of the job he is doing as president, and probably would not re-elect him if they had a chance to do it over again.

The Fox News Opinion Dynamics Poll found 41 percent of those polled approve of Bush's job performance while 51 percent disapprove. Asked whom they would vote for if the November 2004 presidential contest were held today, Bush and Democrat John Kerry tied at 44 percent. The actual tally in the popular vote was Bush 51 percent and Kerry 48 percent.

Bill O'Reilly displayed the poll results only briefly during Thursday's (October 27, 2005) "O'Reilly Factor" and made little comment on them. The results, however, are available on Fox News' website. The poll of 900 registered voters was taken October 25-26. The margin of error was not listed.

Bush's 41 percent approval rating was little changed from his mark of 40 percent in Fox News' mid-October poll. Republican support remained at 79 percent, indicating a high level of Kool-Aid drinking among the president's base.
