News Too Bad To Spin On FNL
Reported by Deborah - October 15, 2005
Tony Snow trying to be low key mentioned to Mort Kondracke that conventional wisdom says that President Bush needs some help in the polls. When Snow and Kondracke started talking about the Republican situation the spin was no easy task. 10/15/05
Kondracke admitted that there are a lot of bad things happening for Republicans. He mentioned Katrina, high gas prices, Karl Rove and Tom Delay. This time there was no objection from Snow trying to discredit the Rove and DeLay stories. Instead Snow showed the newest polls showing that 59% think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Kondracke said that people are in a "sour"mood.
Then Snow was compelled to try to find a positive view asked Kondracke, " What happens if these stories fall apart? Does it help?"
Then Kondracke tried a little spin with, "I still don't smell a 1994. The mood isn't there yet."
