Broken Record Department: O'Reilly Gears Up to Defend Christmas - Again!
Reported by Marie Therese - October 12, 2005
Last night's Talking Points Memo could have been subtitled "Bashing the ACLU for the Umpteenth Time." Bill O'Reilly used his usual sleazy-lawyer tactics against that organization. He cited several highly provocative instances in which the ACLU has defended unpopular groups and/or persons and used these to create the illusion that the ACLU actually advocates the rape of children or live sex acts in one's own front yard. In the course of his diatribe O'Reilly hinted about things to come when he stated that the ACLU "disapproves of ... celebrating the birth of Jesus." An audible groan escaped my lips as I envisioned the upcoming months of listening as Crusader O'Reilly prattles on, endlessly vilifying the Christian-hating forces of darkness and ignorance, who are out to destroy the meaning of Christmas. As Yogi Berra said so many years ago, "It's deju vu all over again!"
