ALERT! Bush Nominates Harriet Miers to SCOTUS
Reported by Nancy - October 3, 2005 -
I turned on FNL earlier today than I usually do because of this breaking news. Yes, FNL is covering Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. Of course, this gives FNL a chance to do lots of the usual: clips of Bush talking about Miers, clips of various & sundry GOPs with a few Dems thrown in for "balance", & Brigitte Quinn doing interviews that shed no real light on Miers but included plenty of praise for both Bush & Miers.
Here's how the current hour began to unfold:
11:02am -Brigitte Quinn interviewing Thad Strom (former chief counsel, Senate Judiciary Committee) about Miers. Quinn laughed about the statement by Sen Chuck Schumer (D-NY) statement ("he didn't seem to know what to say") [note: that clip must have been shown before I tuned in]. This interview was interrupted for ...
11:05am - statements by Sens Bill Frist (R-TN), Arlen Specter (R-PA) & Ted Stevens (R-AK)
11:10am - statement by Miers
11:11am - Megyn Kendall at SCOTUS reported on the first day of the Roberts Supreme Court
11:14am - Quinn interviewed Andrew McBride (former SCOTUS clerk) about Miers
11:18am - Todd Connor reported on the boat accident in upstate NY
11:19am - teaser: Quinn promised "MUCH MORE COVERAGE" of SCOTUS
Comment: Quinn is in 7th heaven, going all misty-eyed every time she says the name "Bush" & it looks like the rest of FNL is just going to be more of the same today. Knock yourselves out, kids -- but stay on topic (see below).
NOTE TO READERS: Please stay on topic (Bush's nomination of Miers, FNL's coverage of it). O/T comments will be deleted. Thanks.
